Sol de Mayo: a Knitting Passion Story...

My love for knitwear ignited during my childhood, guided by my mother's patient hands as she taught me to knit never-ending scarves. From that moment on, I couldn't resist the allure of crafting knitted garments. Even before the birth of my daughter, I felt a special connection to children's knitwear. Creating these small, handcrafted pieces with diverse textures and shapes became my ultimate passion.

However, the journey to creating Sol de Mayo was a long and transformative one. Hailing from an Italian family, I studied Arts and Textile Design at the University of Mar del Plata during my formative years in Argentina.

To deepen my understanding of knitwear technology, I ventured to Barcelona, where I pursued further studies at UPC University. My quest for knowledge led me to England, where I earned a Master's degree in Fashion and Textile at DMU. Returning to Barcelona, I had the privilege of working with the Inditex group in Spain, before embarking on my freelance journey. My dedication to and passion for knitwear remained unwavering throughout.

Life's twists and love's turns eventually led me to France and in 2013, Sol de Mayo was born.

The Vision...

My quest for unique, quality clothing for my daughter unveiled an unsettling truth – many knitwear items contain a significant percentage of synthetic fibres, even from well-known brands. Garments lost their shine after just one wash.

This realization ignited my desire to create beautiful, minimalist pieces crafted exclusively from the finest natural fibres. My focus shifted towards intricate details, ensuring each piece exudes timeless comfort and style.

My collections showcase a unique style that goes beyond fleeting fashion trends. I create a curated range of exclusive items, including clothing, accessories, hand-knitted plush toys, and contemporary lamps. Each piece is made from the finest natural materials, crafted by hand with great care and sourced ethically.
